I don’t think Clooney deserves the Best Actor Oscar. I mean, he’s already got himself some gold for Syrianna. I’m fairly certain that Jean Dujardin will win that one… It’s a pity that Uggie the dog wasn’t nominated. What is it with Jack Russell terriers? They’re almost too adorable.

Which reminds me; why is Drive not getting any Oscar love? The movie was stunning. I’m in love, not just with the super-luscious Driver, but with every frame of that movie, and Nicolas Winding Refn, and the hot pink credits…

*Oh my god!!! Indigo is playing Una noche by 98 degrees!!! I haven’t heard that in so long… I loved the video way back when the song was new.

I’m at work right now. Paying the dues is such a bitch but technically, I’ve nothing else to do.  Yes, I said it. I’ve nothing to do on a Saturday. Ever since the Pianoman started lawyer-ing I see him less and less. Tres tragic.

I’m currently reading The Virgin Suicides by Jeffery Eugenides, and no, I haven’t seen the movie and I’m probably not going to either.  I also committed the cardinal sin of judging a book by its cover and bought The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. When I was at the book store, I saw these new Penguin book covers for Zadie Smith’s White Teeth and four others that were a part of Penguins’ 75th anniversary. They got tattoo artists to design their covers so every book cover is this explosion of colour.  I’m a sucker for stuff like that;  you should totally check them out.

Why is it so hard to find nice stationery? I mean stuff like this or this or even this? There are no decent postcards that you can send… the Chumbak ones are nice but not Bangalore-y.  All I’d need is this, in red and I think I could take care of all my stationery needs…

Tut-tut

I’ve made resolutions!

• No more moping at home, will go out
• If forced to be at home, I will still not bemoan my lot
• I will exercise, have big wedding at the end of the year (before the 21st, so yay!) that I must look hot at. (The wedding’s not mine)
• Will go easy on the booze and the smokes. As wonderfully husky as the Menthols make my voice, I still can’t carry a tune. So what’s le point?
• Will develop skills by taking classes. Languages, baking or even bellydancing.  There’s no point in being single and responsibility-free if I don’t DO something with all my time, right?
• Will physically visit / hang with people outside of my usual circle
• Will bravely shop till I drop… for clothes and shoes and accessories
• Will work on my manners and temper
• I really have to oil my hair more
• And moisturize
• I’m also not going to cut my hair that often
• Will pierce something
• Ditto tattoo
• Will blog more

There’re a few more, but I can’t write them down.  So, crossing my fingers and preparing to be pigheaded about my resolutions.  Go me!

(My 31st night was nice. Very relaxing. I made a drunken Orange cake and met somebody who reminded me a lot of the other Granny Esme. Watched The Rise of the Planet of the Apes on the 1st, with homemade Cosmos.)
